The Kansas City Royals take Seattle to extra innings, edging the Mariners 3-2 in the 11th Monday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Emil Brown’s sacrifice fly ended the contest, putting the Royals back in the win column after two straight losses, and snapping Seattle’s eight game winning streak. David DeJesus contributed to the win, as well, hitting his 5 th home run of the season in the 3 rd inning.

Kansas City starter Gil Meche, who was not involved in the decision, pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits. Octavio Dotel (1-1) pitched a scoreless 11 th inning for the win. Brandon Morrow (3-2) took the loss.

The Royals (35-48) and Mariners (45-34) play again Tuesday night at the K. Jorge De La Rosa (5-9) pitches for the Royals against the Mariners’ Ryan Feierabend (1-2).
