After winning five games in a row, the Kansas City Royals have lost their second straight contest to the Chicago White Sox, dropping a 3-1 decision Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals led 1-0 until the Sox scored twice in the 4 th and scored a third run in the 5 th on Paul Konerko’s 15 th home run of the season.

Jon Garland (6-5) pitched 7 innings, giving up just 1 unearned run. Bobby Jenks pitched 1 scoreless inning for his 22 nd save. Kansas City starter John Thomson (1-1) pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 7 hits, in taking the loss.

The Royals (34-48) open a series with the Seattle Mariners Monday night at the K. Gil Meche (5-6) pitches for the Royals against Seattle’s Felix Hernandez (4-4).
