The Kansas City Royals have won their fifth straight game, blasting the Chicago White Sox 8-1 Friday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Chicago got on the board first with a run in the 2 nd inning, but it was all K.C. after that. Esteban German and Shane Costa each had a pair of hits and a pair of runs batted in. Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Tony Pena, and Joey Gathright contributed 2 hits apiece, as well.

Brian Bannister (5-4) pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits, striking out 5 to pick up the win. Zack Greinke pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his 1 st save. Jose Contreras (5-9) took the loss.

The Royals (34-46) and White Sox (33-43) play again Saturday night at Kauffman Stadium. Odalis Perez (4-7) goes to the mound for the Royals against Chicago’s John Danks (4-6).
