Missouri now has a law requiring electric companies to use more renewable sources to generate power. Governor Blunt has signed SB 54  which requires power companies to use non-fossil fuel sources for four percent of their electricity production within five years, eight percent by 2015, and eleven percent in 2020.

The same bill lets cities use yard waste to generate electricity, and requires utilities to give credits to consumers who generate their own power. Blunt signed the bill at the Iatan One Power Plant and Iatan Two Construction Site in Weston.
