A teenager from Marshfield has drowned in an Arkansas lake after jumping off a bluff. Officials say 16-year-old Nicholas Drew Summers was in nearby Mountain Home for a baseball tournament.

A man from Frohna has drowned after falling into the Mississippi River while fishing from a sandbar. The body of Terry Brunner was found about eight hours later.

Three people have drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks, raising the drowning total there for the summer to seven. The State Water Patrol says alcohol appears to have been involved in all seven of the drownings.

Stover resident Rodger Spooner drowned after jumping off a pontoon boat. A soldier from Fort Leonard Wood, Jonathan Snyder, drowned while swimming in the Party Cove, and a Richland man apparently; drowned when he went for a middle-of-the night swim in the same area. The body of Juan Howell was found in about 25-feet of water.

And a man from St. Louis is reportedly paralyzed from the waist down after diving off the back of a boat into shallow water in the Mississippi River. The State Water Patrol says Christopher Wright struck his head on the river bottom.
