The Kansas City Royals fail to take advantage of a fine pitching performance by Jorge De La Rosa in a 1-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field in Cleveland Tuesday night.

De La Rosa (4-6) pitched 7 1/3 innings in a losing cause, striking out seven batters while giving up one earned run on five hits.  C.C. Sabathia (9-1) went the distance for the win, shutting out the Royals on five hits – two of them to Mike Sweeney, who went two for three on the night.

Franklin Gutierrez provided the only scoring of the game with a 3 rd inning home run.

The Royals (21-38) and Indians play again Wednesday night at the Jake, with Brian Bannister (1-3) pitching for Kansas City against the Tribe’s Paul Byrd (6-1).
