A military panel meets today in Kansas City to consider whether Marine Corps veteran Adam Kokesh should lose his honorable discharge because he wore part of a Marine uniform to a protest against the war in Iraq. Kokesh has a discharge but remains part of the inactive military reserve.

Kokesh has he support of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The national commander of the VFW thinks the Marines are not showing good sense in threatening to change Kokesh’s discharge to "less than honorable." Kokesh says the issue is really free speech and if a combat veteran cannot come home and speak his mind, it is not safe for anyone to speak out.
