Add another name to the list of Missourians we honor this Memorial Day.

The Department of Defense reports that 31-year-old Staff Sergeant Russell Shoemaker of Sweet Springs died on Thursday in Baghdad of wounds suffered when an improvised bomb blew up near his vehicle. Shoemaker and another solider from Maryland, 36-year-old Sergeant 1st Class Robert E. Dunham, were killed in the explosion.

Both were assigned to the 1st Brigade Transition Team, attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division based in Fort Riley, Kansas.
