The St. Louis Cardinals win for the first time in six outings, downing the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-4 at Busch Stadium on Tuesday.

The Pirates got out to an early 1-0 lead in the 1 st inning, but the Cards bounced back with two runs in the 2 nd , one in the 3 rd , and three each in the 5 th and 6 th innings. David Eckstein and Aaron Miles each had three-hit games. Chris Duncan, Juan Encarnacion, and Scott Rolen had two hits apiece, including Duncan’s three-run homer in the 6 th inning.

St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (4-3) gave up two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. Bucs’ starter Zach Duke (1-5) took the loss.

The Cardinals (17-25) and Pirates (19-25) go at it again Wednesday night at Busch Stadium with Kip Wells (1-8) going to the mound against Pittsburgh’s Ian Snell (4-2).
