A local dispute appears to be putting the Edward Jones expansion in the St. Louis area in jeopardy. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that though the state, St. Louis County and Maryland Heights have all gotten behind the proposed expansion, Des Peres city officials have proven reluctant.

A lawsuit has actually been filed after the Des Peres Board of Aldermen placed a freeze on development. The freeze has been lifted, but the lawsuit still stands. The relationship between the two got colder, when the city planning and zoning board voted 9-to-1 to deny Edward Jones’ request for a site plan.

The company announced in October it planned a $260-Million expansion that would add a thousand jobs to its headquarters. Company officials now hint that they might move to Arizona if something can’t be worked out.
