The St. Louis Cardinals made it two in a row over the Colorado Rockies, taking the rubber game of their three-game series 9-2 in an afternoon tilt at Busch Stadium.

The Cards struck first with two runs in the 2 nd inning.  Colorado bounced back with a run in the 3 rd .  The Rockies tied the game in top of the 5 th before the Redbirds went on top to stay with a pair of runs in the bottom of that inning.  The big inning for the Cardinals was the 6 th when four runs crossed the plate to give St. Louis a 6 run lead. They scored once more in the 7 th to up their lead to 9-2.

St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright (3-2) pitched six innings for the win.  He gave up one earned run on nine hits, striking out four.  Colorado starter Jason Hirsh (2-3) was tagged with the loss. He gave up three earned runs on five hits in four innings of work.

The Cardinals (14-18) open a weekend series with the Padres in San Diego Friday night.
