The state senate says the revenue department needs to send voter registration cards out with all vehicle license renewals.  Senator Jolie Justus of Kansas City has tacked that provision onto a major Transportation Bill working its way through the legislature. She says all data bases maintained by the state should be used to get as many people registered as possible.

She says the Revenue Department already sends out a lot of junk mail with its renewal notices and there should be nothing wrong with sending out voter registration cards.

The House earlier in this session adopted a bill saying voter registration cards should be given to everybody who registers for hunting and fishing licenses.  Although the Senate has adopted her idea, the sponsor of the main bill has not promised to keep that provision when the House and Senate come up with a final compromise.
