A large crowd rallied at the Capitol Wednesday waving signs that read “March Out Poverty” and “No MO Poverty.”  The crowd cheered in support of Dr.Donna Beegle, a national public speaker whose message was plastered on signs and banners: “Piece by Piece – moving out poverty”.  Dr. Beegle says people can and must work together to elimate poverty. She says she has asked Governor Blunt to form a bi-partisan committee to tackle the state’s poverty. She urges state leaders to take up the issue for people who haven’t had a chance to move forward.

Dr. Beegle grew up in poverty, but she says she was gradually able to make a life for herself through a community action group. She earned her GED at age 26. She now posesses a doctorate’s degree in educational leadership.
