A professor at Missouri State University has reached a separation agreement with university officials. Dr. Michael Hendrix, a tenured associate professor in biomedical sciences, has left the univerisity’s faculty in the wake of public controversy over his status as a registered sex offender.  Hendrix is on the Greene County Sexual Offenders List for the rape of a minor that occurred 25 years ago in Ohio.

The university issued a public statement on April 3 about Hendrix’s status after a student began spreading the information.  A week later, the university announced that the professor would be reassigned, with limited teaching responsibilities, and his office would be moved.  Hendrix joined the Missouri State faculty in 1995 and he was tenured in 2000.
