The Chiefs and Rams have worked out a deal that will send Kansas City wide receiver and kick returner Dante Hall to St. Louis for a fifth-round pick in Saturday’s NFL Draft.

Ideally, the move fills a gaping hole on the Rams’ special teams unit, which has struggled mightily returning kickoffs since the departure of Tony Horne following the 2000 season.

"We have filled a need with one of the top players in football at his speciality, returning punts and kicks," Rams head coach Scott Linehan said. "Dante will fit nicely on our special teams and can be utilized as a receiver in certain situations."

On the Chiefs end, the team is trying to get younger, and Chiefs president Carl Peterson says do not be surprised if the team makes another move before the draft.

"We feel that it’s always important to have at least seven draft picks," Peterson said. "Hopefully, we’ll be able to acquire another one or two in the days to come."

In addition to St. Louis sending its fifth-round pick to Kansas City, the teams will switch positions in the third round, with the Chiefs sliding up to the 82nd pick and the Rams falling back to 84th.
