Governor Blunt has ordered flags throughout Missouri to be flown at half-staff to memorialize the 32 people killed on the Virginia Tech campus Monday. The death toll in Blacksburg, Virginia reached 33 when the gunman turned the gun on himself.

Blunt says "Melanie and I extend our thoughts and prayers to all those who lost a loved one in this senseless tragedy and to everyone at Virginia Tech. I ask Missourians to join me in praying for those who lost a family member or friend in this terrible act."

A gunman Monday massacred 32 people on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. It is the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U. S. history. The shootings occurred in two incidents and happened over a two hour period. Two people were killed in a dormitory. The killer then moved to a campus building and killed 30 others. The shootings ended when he shot himself in the head.

Virginia Tech President Charles Steger has identified the gunman only as an Asian male who was a resident in one of the university’s dormitories.
