For the third consecutive game, the Cardinals scored just three runs.  And fortunatley, for the third straight game, three runs was enough.

Starting pitcher Adam Wainright and company held the Pirates to two runs on the day, allowing the Redbirds to sneak back home to St. Louis with a 3-2 win and sweep of the Buccos.

Chris Duncan, pinch-hitting for So Taguchi in the ninth-inning, smashed a solo home run over the centerfield wall to give St. Louis the lead, and thankfully he did, because Taguchi had gone three-for-three with a pair of doubles in the game.

The Cards have the day off today, before hosting the Brew Crew tomorrow.  They’ll face ex-Redbird Jeff Suppan on Sunday.
