Mizzou showed their appreciation for this season’s success signing wrestling coach Brian Smith to a five-year contract. Smith’s new deal will keep him in Columbia at least through 2012.

Smith’s 110-55-1 (66%) coaching record gives him the best winning percentage in Mizzou history. This season, he coached the Tigers to a program-high third place finish in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

Under Smith, the Tigers have seen their first Big 12 Champion (Tyron Woodley, 2003) and its first National Champion (Ben Askren, 2006). Askren repeated as champion this year.
