Federal prosecutors say former Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields is all wrong in claiming her indictnent for mortgage fraud is illegal. Shields says Prosecutor Brad Schlozman is serving unconstitutionally because he was appointed by the U.S. Attorney General without Senate confirmation.

Prosecutors say a seven-year-old case decided by the U.S. Supreme Court says Schlozman is serving legally and the indictment also is legal because it was signed by an assistant prosecutor whose authority is not being disputed.
