Fans wishing to light up a cigar in celebration of the Cardinals 10th World Series Championship at Busch Stadium this season, will need to take it outside.  The club recently announced a plan that will completely prohibit smoking inside the ballpark this year.

The plan makes new Busch the 15th smoke-free stadium in the majors, but those in the smoking community will be permitted to exit the park and re-enter at Gates 2, 4, and 6.

"The Cardinals, along with our fans, have had a full season to experience the new Busch Stadium and now we’re looking for ways to enhance the fan experience within the ballpark," Cardinals’ President Mark Lamping said. "Unlike old Busch, which generally had open-air concourses, the new ballpark is designed with many services, amenities and access areas – such as stairwells – which are enclosed. Smoke collects in these stairwells and other enclosed areas, and that works against our goal of providing a healthy, fan-focused environment."

Ashtrays will be available for use outside the exit/re-entry gates.
