The attorney for suspected kidnapper Michael Devlin has rejected a plea deal offered by county and federal prosecutors. Devlin is accused of abducting Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck and sexually assaulting them. He also is accused of child pornography.
Devlin faces charges in Franklin, Washington and St. Louis Counties. The plea deal offered would have included several consecutive life sentences. Devlin’s lawyer says that package amounts to the maximum sentence his client would get if convicted on every count by a jury.
