Just two weeks before the Legislature takes its Spring Break, and it appears as though the Senate is finally going to get around to taking up and passing SB 389 , legislation that would authorize the sale of $350-Million of assets of MOHELA – the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority.

Senate Majority Leader Charlie Shields (R-St. Joseph) says it looks as though the chamber will finally deal with this issue. The Senate has been waiting for a supplemental appropriations bill from the House and the Governor’s list of capital building projects to be funded with money from the sale.

Shields says he believes most of the controversial projects have been removed from the MOHELA legislation, and work on the Lewis & Clark Initiative could be completed this week.
