The Rams have replaced former special teams coach Bob Ligashesky. Head coach Scott Linehan hired Al Roberts, a man he tried to bring to the staff a year ago. Linehan worked with Roberts on the same staff with the University of Washington.

?I learned more about special teams in my one year with Al that in any of the other years I?ve been coaching,? Linehan said. ?His passion for the sport is second to none, at least of anyone I?ve ever been around.?

Roberts last coached in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals (1997-2002) before Marvin Lewis took over as coach there. In Roberts five years with the Bengals before ?02, they scored seven special teams touchdowns, and Tremain Mack made the Pro Bowl in 1999 as a kick returner.

Roberts has also worked with Arizona (1994-95); the Jets (1991-93); Eagles (1988-90); and the Houston Oilers (1984-85).
