Missouri State has named Rob Christophel as it offensive coordinator for the 2007 season. Christophel replaces Steve Brickey who left the school to assume similar duties at Samford University.
Christophel has coached offense at the collegiate level for more than 20 years. He comes to Springfield after spending the last five years as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He will also coach the quarterbacks for the Bears.
Under Christophel, ULL ranked seventh in Division-I rushing offense in 2005 while leading the Sun Belt Conference in nine offensive categories. In 2006, ULL finished 14th in I-A and first in the Sun Belt in rushing offense and second in the Sun Belt in total offense.
