The state’s tourism director says Governor Blunt’s recommended boost in funding for the industry would help keep tourists coming back for more. Director Blaine Luektemeyer says the additional 2.9 million dollars would be an investment and points out for every dollar spent the industry gets 2 dollars and 80 cents back. He says the additional funds would help highlight the attractions Missouri has to offer such as world-class museums, amusement parks, zoos, science centers, Branson music shows, the Arch and more. Luektemeyer adds that neighboring states have recently stepped up their funding for tourism and Missouri needs to do the same if it’s going to capitalize on tourism revenue. Missouri’s tourism industry is the second largest industry in the state.
