The power is starting to come on in some towns in southwest Missouri. Some residents in Sarcoxie have electricity again. Water service is running again after being shut down on Sunday. The city is under a boil order for the rest of the week. Parts of Nixa in Christian County remain without power. Billings lost all of its electricity. About 80 percent of the neighboring town of Clever lost electricity in the weekend storm. Work crews are still trying to re-connect in the Joplin area. Empire District Electric reports the number of customers without electricity is below 50,000. Springfield City utilities says 25,000 of its customers are without power. AmerenUE says it has restored electricity to all but about 4,300 customers in the St. Louis and Lake of the Ozarks areas. Rural electric cooperatives, especially in southwest Missouri, continue struggling to get customers re-attached. One co-op in Mount Vernon reports two-thousand of its poles have broken off.
