Governor Matt Blunt has asked the Chairman of the State Transportation Commission to stay on the Commission. Bill McKenna is a Democrat and a former member of the State Senate. His term was to expire in March, but the Governor says McKenna has agreed to stay on. Blunt says McKenna has agreed to stay until the new St. Louis bridge issue is resolved. Missouri and Illinois are at odds about how to pay for the bridge. Missouri wants a toll bridge because the state does not have the cash available to pay for it otherwise. Illinois rejects the toll idea and says it does have the cash available.
