The Chiefs’ season may have ended just last week with a loss in the opening round of playoffs, but the team made sure one order of business was taken care of before anyone went on vacation.

KC came to terms with eight-time Pro Bowler Tony Gonzalez on a five-year contract extension. A souce close to the negotiations told the Associated Press the deal would pay the ten-year veteran $17 million in guaranteed money.

Gonzalez, who has spent his entire career with the Chiefs, is just two touchdown catches shy of breaking the NFL record for TD receptions by a tight end.

He caught 73 passes for 900 yards this past season, including five touchdowns.
