Ten national transportation experts are meeting in St. Louis today to talk about building a new bridge across the Mississippi River. The special committee has been assembled by the East-West Gateway Council, a regional planning group, to help Missouri and Illinois find some common ground on building the bridge. Missouri says the only way it can afford its part of the costs is to make it a toll bridge. Illinois says “no way” to the toll idea. The findings of the panel are expected to be made public later today.
