Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen has been sentenced to 48 hours of jail time for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Allen was charged with a DUI, and will begin serving his two-day sentence beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 16. The defensive end out of Idaho State was granted a plea agreement; he was placed on probation for one year and fined $500. The penalty includes a suspended sentence of 90 days in jail. If he violates his probation, Allen will serve the entire term.

Allen was given diversion in July after being stopped in May. Usually, if a diversion program is completed successfully, the charges are dismissed.

Allen was charged with driving under the influence again in Sept. Overland Park prosecutors motioned to have his diversion terminated. The motion was granted Wednesday.
