Missouri senior wrestler Ben Askren has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the Month, the third time in his career. He began and ended the month with tournament victories.
The defending national champion at 174-pounds and ranked No. 1 this season won individual titles and most outstanding wrestler awards at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and at the Southern Scuffle.
Askren has 23 wins this season, 21 of them by pins, 19 in the first period. He’s pinned 16 straight opponents and won 68 consecutive matches.
