The State Revenue Department has announced the awarding of the first-ever contract fee office bid. Thos are the offices at which motor vehicle and driver’s license business is conducted. The Department’s Maura Browning says it’s the contract for the West County office in Ballwin in St. Louis County. The bidding process opened in September, with the winner announced this week. The winner is Dahah Lewis, who has managed the West County office for nine years, working under both Democrat and Republican administrations. Lewis’s bid put forward a proposal for maintaining high quality service. In addition, Lewis has promised to donate $10,000 to two charities each year. The awarding of fee offices has, in the past, been viewed as a patronage exercise.
