House Speaker Rod Jetton (R-Marble Hill) endorses calling a special legislative session to approve Governor Blunt’s MOHELA plan. The governor is considering calling the legislature into special session to approve legislation relating to his proposal to pay for college capital improvements. Under the governor’s plan, the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority would sell $350 million in assets to finance the plan. Jetton says it makes sense to run a special session concurrent with the regular session. Jetton calls it a great idea. The governor can call the legislature into special session when it convenes for the regular session. A special session is confined to the agenda set by the governor.
