The state fire marshall’s office has finished its investigation of the Anderson Guest House fire–which killed 10 people last month. Investigators have eliminated several causes…and are left to rule that something in the wiring can NOT be ruled out. That’s as close as they can come to pinpointing what caused the fire. Investigations Supervisor Bill Ziers says the fire started near a furnace where a repairman had recently worked. He says the furnace did not cause the fire, but the fire started in the attic above it. Ziers says the fire in the attic would have pumped considerable smoke into the living quarters before it burned a vent in the roof. Autopsies on bodies found in the building indicate they died of smoke inhalation. The report is being given to local law enforcement agencies and the county prosecutor, among others.
