West-Central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton weighs in as President Bush considers a change of course on the war in Iraq. Skelton says he was able to speak with the president and Vice President Cheney during a White House visit Monday afternoon. Skelton says he talked with the president about the war on terror in particular and military preparedness in general. Bush has invited a number of military experts and governmental officials to speak with him about the war as he weighs the recommendations made by the Iraq Study Group. Skelton, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, will become the new chairman of the House Armed Services Committee when Democrats assume power in January.
