Springfield Soldier Paralyzed from Smallpox Vaccine

Side effects from a small pox vaccine has left a Springfield soldier paralyzed and fighting for his life. Twenty-year-old Joseph Lopez had been serving in Iraq for one week when he lost all ability to move. Doctors at a hospital in Germany where Lopez was being treated told him the vaccine had made his anti-bodies attack one another. The soldier has been undergoing physical therapy to relearn how to walk since Novemeber. Lopez says he first noticed something was wrong just before he left for Iraq at the end of September.

Highway Patrol Says Investigators Still Searching For Cause in Anderson Fire

A singed shell is all that’s left after a tragic fire at a state run residential care facility in McDonald County. Highway Patrol Sergeant Kent Casey says the fire completely engulfed the Anderson Guest House making it difficult to determine where the fire started. Ten people are dead, 19 others are hurt. The fire broke out at around one 1:00 this morning. Thirty-three residents and two care-givers were inside when the fire started. Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.

Neighbor Shocked After 10 are Dead in Anderson Fire

One woman who works at an animal clinic across the street from the Anderson Guest House calls it a horrible sight. Patrice Lasiter witnessed the fire that burned the Guest House killing 10 and injuring 25, with 19 hospitalized. She says just a burnt shell is all that’s left of the institution for the elderly and mentally disabled. One resident of the Guest House visits the animal clinic daily to check in with the office’s cat. Lasiter says no one from the clinic knows if their daily visitor survived the fire.

Ten Dead in Southwest Missouri Group Home Fire

Three investigators from the State Fire Marshall’s office are at the scene of a ten-fatality group home fire in Anderson. The fire broke out about 1 a.m. Assistant Fire Marshall Greg Carrell says 35 people are believed to have been inside the Anderson Guest House, a residential care facility in the small town south of Neosho. Ten are dead. He says nineteen have been hospitalized and six more have been treated for injuries.

Ten Dead in Group Home Fire

Ten people are dead and a dozen others have been hurt in an early morning fire in a Group Home for the mentally challenged in Anderson. Anderson is a small town in southwest Missouri, near Neosho. Information from the scene is limited. State Fire Marshall Randy Cole has confirmed the numbers. We’ll update the story throughout the day.
