Jasper County unprepared for high turnout

Holmes Must Practice To Return

Priest Holmes’ season could come to a conclusion at the end of this week. Holmes has spent this season on the physically-unable-to-perform list. According to NFL rules, Holmes must return to practice this week if he plans on suiting up for the Chiefs.

All indication points towards Holmes not returning. The Chiefs have certainly made a move towards the future implanting Larry Johnson as the starter and signing Michael Bennett in the off-season. Holmes also took a significant pay cut and has not been around the team facilities all year.

Holmes is still recovering from a neck injury suffered last season.

Redman Pitcher Of The Year

Mark Redman was the lone Royals representative at the 2006 All-Star game, so it was inevitable that he would be named the organization’s pitcher of the year. Today, that came official when Redman was awarded the Royals’ Pitcher of the Year.

Redman finished the year 11-10 with a 5.71 ERA in 29 starts. He is a free agent this off-season and the Royals are not sure they will be able to keep him. There are not a lot of pitchers available for free agency, so Redman’s value could be too high for Kansas City.

The Royals have had trouble getting consistency from their best pitchers. There have been six different winners of the Bruce Rice Pitcher of the Year award and ninth in the last 10 years.
