Ethanol has become a big issue in political campaigns in Missouri, but it appears as though the NIMBY – Not In My Back Yard – effect might be a bigger issue in the southwest Missouri community of Rogersville. Residents are fighting a proposed $165-Million ethanol plant. They fear the plant would sap underground water supplies that feed their wells. Several residents have gone to court to try to prevent the drilling of a test well by a company with a contract to buy property in the area for the construction of an ethanol plant.
