The Rams are coming off a third straight loss to the 49ers, – dating back to last season – the last thing they need are distractions from within. Well, they got that distraction. Defensive end Anthony Hargrove skipped practice Thursday morning and no one in the organization knew of his whereabouts.

Rams officials contacted the Cottleville Police Department, where Hargrove lives, to see if there were any incidents involving Hargrove. The police department replied that there were no such incidents. Later that afternoon, the Rams called the police department again to say they had found Hargrove at his home. Head coach Scott Linehan confirmed that it was not an excused absence, but didn’t say whether Hargrove would start or not.

Players missing practice is not out of the ordinary. Absences happen all the time because of family and personal issues, but players usually notify the team beforehand. Hargrove did no such thing.

Rookie Victor Adenyanju practiced with the starting unit in place of Hargrove Thursday.
