An educational reform group in Washington D.C. gives Missouri a failing grade in teaching world history. The Thomas B. Fordham Institute says only Iowa and Rhode Island do a worse job. A historian who headed up the study says Latin American history is largely ignored in schools nationwide – at a time when the country is engaged in a national debate about what to do with the large numbers of immigrants from Latin America.
