The Rams made an effort to shore up its special teams. St. Louis released fifth-round draft pick Marques Hagans to make room for the signing of return man J.R. Reed.

Reed returned kicks for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004, ranking second in the NFL among rookies. He sat out the 2005 season on injured reserve after injuring his leg jumping over a fence in his hometown of Tampa, Fla. Reed was released by the Eagles Saturday and worked out for the Rams on Monday. The two parties agreed on a one-year deal, financial terms weren’t released.
