A new poll of Missouri’s U.S. Senate race shows incumbent Republican Senator Jim Talent and Democrat challenger Claire McCaskill are about dead even. The Research 2000 Poll, conducted for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KMOV-TV in St. Louis, gives McCaskill the backing of 47 percent of those surveyed, compared to 46 percent for Talent. Two percent of the respondents support Libertarian Frank Gilmour. Five percent said they were undecided. The poll of 800 likely voters was conducted between August 28th and 31st.
