The Mets completed a three-game sweep of the Cardinals with a 6-2 win, Thursday. The loss combined with a Reds win over the Giants slipped the Cardinals into a first place tie with Cincinnati in the National League Central.

St. Louis, winners in only eight of its last 26 games, listened as manager Tony LaRussa held a lengthy team meeting after the game.

The Mets were led offensively by Jose Reyes’ three hits and Paul Lo Duca’s two hits. Carlos Delgado hit his fourth homer in as many games.

Aaron Miles and Gary Bennett were the only Redbirds with multiple hits. Bennett’s two-run homer in the fifth gave the Cardinals their only runs.

Jason Marquis fell to 13-12 after surrendering five runs in six innings and striking out four.

Dave Williams got the win holding the Cardinals to two runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings.
