Reds and Cubs. Rookie outfielder Chris Duncan and pitcher Chris Carpenter were named National League co-Players of the Week.

Duncan had three hits in each of the Cardinals three games against the Reds. He then upped the stakes against the Cubs homering in each of those games. During the week, Duncan hit .583 with four home runs and six RBI.

Carpenter, honored for the second time this season, got two wins during the week. He tossed a complete-game four-hitter against the Reds. He later earned a win over the Cubs in a 5-3 Cardinals victory.
