Runelvys Hernandez struggled losing his previous four starts, but the right-hander can breathe a little easier after his performance Tuesday. Hernandez pitched 7.2 innings allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out five as the Royals beat the White Sox 4-2.

Mark Grudzielanek, Emil Brown, and Reggie Sanders each had two hits. Mark Teahen homered and drove in two RBI.

The White Sox came into the game winners of their last five. They trailed 2-0 before they scored their only runs in the fifth. Scott Podsednik’s sacrifice fly drove in Juan Uribe, who reached on an infield single earlier in the inning. Tadahito Iguchi followed that with a run-scoring single to center.

Kansas City didn’t allow the game to stay tied for long. Teahen broke the 2-2 deadlock with a blast off Javier Vasquez to give the Royals the lead for good.
