Floyd Irons didn’t suffer many losses in a season during his 33 years as a high school basketball coach. Off the court this year, his losses are mounting.

The former Vashon high coach was fired from his post earlier this year after a St. Louis School Board audit discovered he mishandled thousands of dollars. Saturday, Irons was let go as a teacher as well.

Irons received a letter from the board informing him of their latest decision. But the situation is mysterious because Board attorney, Ken Brostron, claims neither the board nor the human resources director was aware of the letter.

During Irons’ coaching career, he won 10 state titles and became one of Missouri high school’s most successful coaches.
