When Dan Nassif left his sales job because of fatigue, he never imagined that he’d become a millionaire in the process.
Fortunately for Nassif, things have come up all aces. The St. Louis resident has earned himself a spot at the final table of the World Series of Poker. He secured a spot in the tournament by winning an internet qualifying tourney that cost him $160 to enter. Even if Nassif doesn’t win another hand, he’ll turn that $160 into $1.5 million. A first place finish will net him $12 million.
The tournament has already lasted two weeks, and has seen a record 8,773 players. The final players will resume play tonight at 4 p.m. (CST).
Nassif will begin the final round with 2.6 million in chips – the least of all the finalist. The leader, Jamie Gold, will start with 25.6 million. If Nassif is to pull off the feat, he’ll be the second player from St. Louis to win the event. Greg Raymer, a 1982 Parkway West High graduate, won it in 2004.
