St. Louis native, Cory Spinks, has fought 38 fights in his professional career. None of them have been the one he’s itching for.
For the longest time, Spinks has worked and begged for a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Each time, his request has been denied. Two years ago, Spinks and Mayweather came face-to-face in a post-fight press conference after Spinks’ championship victory over Zab Judah. Both fighters exchanged words with Spinks ending all verbal assaults with the only one that mattered.
“Sign a contract,” yelled Spinks.
Well, Spinks finally received his wish. A contract has been signed, and a fight between he and Mayweather is scheduled for Nov. 4 in Las Vegas. The fight will put Spinks’ International Boxing Federation junior-middleweight belt on the line. It’ll be his first title defense since winning the belt in a split-decision over former champ Roman Karmazin.
Mayweather will come into the fight 36-0 with 24 knockouts.
Spinks is 35-3 with 11 KOs.
