All the results are not in, but Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas is declaring victory in the Republican State Auditor’s race. With more than 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Thomas has a lead of close to 1,800 votes over Representative Jack Jackson of Wildwood. Senator John Loudon of Chesterfield is in third place and has already conceded defeat. Representative Mark Wright of Springfield is well back in fourth place, while 2002 GOP nominee Al Hanson is a distant fifth. In a press release, Thomas says she vows to focus on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. Thomas didn’t enter the race until the final day of filing.
