Six made the attempt. Two made the ballot. The Secretary of State’s office has announced two initiative petitions will be on the November ballot. One would keep state government from imposing restrictions on any stem cell research allowed under federal law. The other would raise the minimum wage in Missouri to $6.50 an hour. Stacie Temple with the office says the signatures submitted for those two held up to the verification process. Two other initiatives didn’t make the ballot due to insufficient signatures: a proposal to restore Medicaid cuts and another to raise the tobacco tax. Two other initiatives – one on eminent domain and another to limit government growth – have been ruled not to have met state standards. Their fate now is in the courts.
